Favourite 5 Garden Route Attractions
“For me, the number one attraction in the Garden Route is definitely the excellent golf courses,” said Jens Grospitch when we met him Berlin just after his recent trip to South Africa.
Here are Jens’s favourite 5 Garden Route attractions:
Pezula and Simola Golf Courses
Jens really enjoyed the golf at Pezula Championship Course on the Knysna cliff-tops with views of both the lagoon and ocean. The signature holes on this Par 72 Links course are number 13 and 14. Jens also enjoyed the spectacular scenery and challenging Parklands course at Simola.
Knysna Heads and Lagoon
The Knysna Heads and lagoon are beautiful. We know the best activities, restaurants and attractions to ensure your stay is the best!
Tsitsikamma National Park Suspension Bridges
The walk to the suspension bridges starts at the Storms River Mouth and takes you through some spectacular indigenous forest with superb views of the mouth and the ocean. This is in the Garden Route National Park near Plettenberg Bay.
Birds of Eden
Birds of Eden is the world’s largest free flight bird sanctuary with over 3,500 birds. The two hectare dome covers a gorge of indigenous forest and is a great place to spot the indigenous Knysna tauraco (pictured above). The aviary is located in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay.
Wine Tasting and Vineyard Lunch at Bramon
Bramon Wine Estate is the most easterly winery in South Africa and a great place to enjoy lunch in the vineyards. The menu features Mediterranean mezze style dishes including smoked snoek pate, marinated olives, dolmades, springbok carpaccio and baked camembert – all served with plenty of delicious crunchy bread.
